Brock Dittman, Karns City baseball rout North Clarion; Moniteau softball wins shootout: Roundup

Brock Dittman scattered six hits harmlessly, and the offense racked up 12 hits and 11 steals as Karns City baseball routed North Clarion 12-1 in six innings.

Camden Slater was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored, and Joey O’Donnell went 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Plus Brody Zediker and Tyson Frazer swiped three bags.

Dittman went the distance, striking out four.

Moniteau 16, Keystone 6 — The Warriors scored 10 in the fourth and fifth innings to win by mercy rule.

Weston cook went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored, finishing a home run shy of the cycle. Kayne Scott was 2-for-3 with three runs and an RBI, and leadoff man Ian Ross was 4-for-4 with five RBIs and four runs scored, plus a double and two stolen bases.

North Allegheny 4, Seneca Valley 3 — Grant Huskey’s sacrifice fly with one out in the bottom of the seventh drove in Jake Fritz for the game-winning run.

Mason Fisher finished 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Raiders.

Butler 4, Central Catholic 4 — According to GameChanger, Butler’s game appears to be suspended after the 10th inning tied.

Softball

Moniteau scored six runs in the fifth and six innings, then held on despite giving up two runs in the top of the seventh to beat Keystone 12-11.

Warriors slugger Lily Staab inched closer to the program’s career home run record with a solo shot and finished 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBIS at the plate. She also had two steals.

Slippery Rock 16, Jamestown 1 — The Rockets put up a 13-spot in the first inning. Lillian Campbell and Sophia Lawrence hit three-run and two-run homers, respectively, with Campbell going 2-for-3 and Lawrence finishing 2-for-3 with three runs.

Joslyn Korcok fanned nine and allowed just two hits in four innings.

East Forest 9, Karns City 7 — Despite a homer, two RBIs and two runs scored on a 3-for-4 night from Addison Fox, the Gremlins offense came up just short in a shootout.

Nicole Huff went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs.

Derry 3, Freeport 2 — Bailey Legge roped an RBI single to score Francesca DePalma in the top of the seventh to lift Derry to this win.

The Yellowjackets scored on solo homers from Addyson Caruso (3-for-4, a double) and Lauren Clark (1-for-3). Ali Smith was solid in the circle, striking out six and allowing only five hits in a complete-game effort.

Boys lacrosse

Mars beat Shaler 16-3. No stats were reported.

Boys volleyball

Butler lost for just the third time this season, falling 3-0 (set scores: 25-15, 25-16, 25-23) to North Allegheny.

Andrew Slaughenhoup has 10 kills, Maddox McCall had 14 digs and Avery Rudolph had 13 assists. The Tornado are 12-3 (4-3 WPIAL Section 1-6A).

Seneca Valley 3, Pine-Richland 1 — No stats were provided.

Boys tennis

Butler won 4-1 over Shaler thanks to 10-4 and 11-9 wins, respectively, by Singles 2 Landin Schooley and Singles 3 Carson Stewart. Doubles pairs Creedon Dalton/Jeremy Schreffler and Evan Conaway/Anthony Stoops also won.

Seneca Valley 4, Montour 1 — Gianni Varlotta and Dylan Howe won in straight-set sweeps in Singles 2 and 3, with Howe dropping just one game. Kylan Meiers/Liam Schley and Jackson Brandt/Trent Gordon also swept their doubles matches.
