GoFundMe for family of mother, children killed in Mercer County fire raises $12K
A GoFundMe campaign for a family who lost a mother and two children Thursday, April 16, in a Mercer County fire raised more than $13,000 in its first day.
Malinda Abrams, 48, Amelia Abrams, 16, and Leroy Abrams, 12, died in the house fire in Sandy Lake Township near Stoneboro, according to Mercer County Coroner John A. Libonati.
They were the mother, youngest daughter and youngest brother of the family, according to the GoFundMe created by the boyfriend of another daughter.
The family also lost the house, as well as their three dogs, a rabbit, and a bird, according to information on the GoFundMe.
“The family is left with nothing but the clothes on their backs,” it read.
The GoFundMe had raised $13,384 as of Friday afternoon. The funds will go toward funeral costs, temporary housing, clothing, food, medical bills and furniture among other things, it said.
“Every dollar will help them begin to rebuild their lives and find some stability in the midst of this overwhelming loss,” it said.
