Sandra Nolte
Sandra Kay (McMurry) Nolte, 84, of Lancaster Township, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Thursday, April 9, 2026, in the care of Creek Meadows Senior Guest Haus, Zelienople, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born Jan. 27, 1942, in Butler, Sandy was the fourth child of the late Helen Catherine (Snyder) and Carl Wesley McMurry.
She was a 1960 graduate of Butler High School, where she met her husband of 64 years. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years before beginning her career in food service with the Seneca Valley School District, from which she retired in 2007 as cafeteria manager at Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School.
Sandy was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Reformed Church in Zelienople for 45 years where she served as church librarian, funeral food committee lead, member of the Pastor’s Prayer Team and sang soprano in the choir. She attended Sunday School all her life, taught Sunday School, attended and led Bible Studies and worked with VBS.
Sandy enjoyed cooking, gardening and preserving the produce from her garden, as well as knitting, sewing and other crafts. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and working puzzles. But she mostly enjoyed spending time with her husband and family, as well as camping, sailing, fishing, traveling all around the country and to wherever her kids were stationed. She also traveled to Europe.
Sandy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert E. (Bob) Nolte; her daughter, Amy J. (Andrew) Pepe; and her son, William R. (Naomi) Nolte. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) Pepe; Aaron Pepe; Alicia (Jay) Hawk; Benjamin Nolte; Katherine (Tyler) Weaver; and Abigail Nolte. She leaves behind two great-grandchildren, Aria Pepe and Baby Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her three siblings, Ronald (Shirley) McMurry, Edwin (Edna) McMurry and Marilyn (Richard) Custred.
NOLTE — There will be a private viewing and committal service for the family of Sandra Kay (McMurry) Nolte, who died Thursday, April 9, 2026, at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.
A memorial service officiated by Dr. Rev. Mauri Smith, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, at St. Peter’s Reformed Church, 320 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, followed by a luncheon.
She will be buried at St. Peter’s Reformed Church Cemetery.
