Butler County’s swimming 2026 all-stars: Mars’ Dom Davis and Marin Raible named AOTY, first team picks, more
Mars coach Karen Guise has a simple term to describe her top swimmer and diver, Dom Davis and Marin Raible.
They just “push.”
Davis, a sophomore, and Raible, a junior, have been named the Butler Eagle Male and Female Swimmer/Diver of the Year, respectively.
And they pushed vigorously and intensely to get there.
Davis is a North Catholic sophomore who swam for Mars this season because the Trojans didn’t have a swim team. He didn’t swim last season after a torn labrum took away his freshman year in the water.
Davis wound up placing second at the PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships in the 50- and 100-yard freesytyle in Class 3A, setting school records in both events and has PRs of 20.14 and 44.64, respectively. He won the WPIAL 50 free title. He also swam a leg of the Planets’ school-record setting 200 free relay, joining Conner Liu, Brandon Szuch and Preston Heynes to post a time of 1:29.01.
“Dom is just a phenomenal swimmer,” Guise said. “He just pushes. He knows his limits, but he has great dedication and determination. He required shoulder surgery last year, and we weren’t sure what we were gonna get.
“He just took his swimming to a whole new level.”
Davis has been a member of the Racer X Swim Club for six years. He practiced with Mars once a week during the season. He was cleared to return to club meets in March of 2025.
“My goals next year are to swim a sub-20 (seconds) in the 50 free and a sub-43 in the 100,” Davis said. “I don’t worry about titles. If I hit the times I want, everything else will come.”
He wants to swim in college, but he’s all about education first.
“I’ll choose my school based on my education. I want to get into aerospace engineering.”
He’s been swimming competitively since age 10.
“It just comes naturally to me,” he said.
Gymnastics had come naturally for Raible. Competing out of Xquisite Gymnastics in Cranberry Township, sfhe was a Level 10 gymnast by her freshman year. Then she suffered a hand injury that required surgery, and her gymnastics career was over.
“I couldn’t compete at a high level anymore in that sport, but I still wanted to compete,” Raible said. “A friend of mine who was a gymnast took up diving and convinced me to try it.”
The 2025-26 season marked Raible’s second as a diver. She placed seventh n the WPIAL meet last year. She placed third in the WPIAL and PIAA championships in 1-meter diving this year.
Raible, a member of Pittsburgh Diving Club, recently accepted a scholarship offer to continue diving at the University of Pittsburgh.
“My gymnastics background gave me a head start in terms of diving,” Raible said. “The body movements are very similar. I had no goals set in diving at first. Now I want to win championships.”
“Marin is a hard worker and a stronger leader,” Guise said. “She has continued to push herself over the last two years to become one of the top divers in the state.”
