Time capsule: Butler County had tight office space

Butler County employees were running out of space in 2011.

With offices squeezed into the nooks and crannies of the government center and courthouse, workers were doubling up in cubicles while boxes were stored in offices and hallways.

Dale Pinkerton, chairman of the board of county commissioners at the time, said the issue of diminishing office space had to be addressed.

“There is no doubt we need to start looking at options to help employees do a better job for the residents of Butler County,” he said.

Carmine Scotece, director of county human services, said space started becoming scarce about eight years prior to April 2011, as state and federally mandated programs increased the number of employees.
