Albert Helsel
Albert Helsel, 88, of Saxonburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Albert shared a life full of love and adventure with his wife, Virginia “Ginnie” Helsel.
They loved to travel and together they explored many destinations, with Rehoboth Beach, Niagara Falls, Tennessee and Lake Erie holding special places in their hearts.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Al went on to work for the United States Postal Service for most of his life. He was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and rarely missed a game. His passions also included coin collecting, a love for country music and searching for treasures at local flea markets. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and nature and there wasn’t an animal he didn’t love. Above all, Al was a devoted family man.
He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Helsel, of Saxonburg; his daughter, Linda Biernesser and her husband, Art, of Saxonburg; his son, Brad Helsel, and his wife, Denise, of Chalfont, Pa.; and his son, Ryan Helsel, and his wife, Jennifer, of Butler. He is also survived by his stepson, David Kriley, and his wife, Kimberly, of Butler. Al was also the proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One grandchild, Quinton Albert Thrower, preceded him in death.
A private service will be held for the family.
