A Butler man is charged with statutory sexual assault after Butler police said he had sexual intercourse with a juvenile.

Keyon David Franklin, 21, was charged Friday, March 27, with one felony count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, statutory sexual assault, filming a sex act and corruption of minors; and misdemeanor indecent assault following an incident Feb. 26, 2025.

Police determined from videos of the incident the juvenile would have been 13 at the time of the incident and Franklin would have been 19.

Police said they were contacted by a man claiming to have seen behavioral changes in the juvenile. He confiscated the child’s electronics and found messages with sexual overtones, police said.

Police investigated the devices on March 4, 2025, and found 12 videos of Franklin engaging in sexual acts with the juvenile.

Police interviewed Franklin in April the same year. He alleged the juvenile told him she was 18 years old, but he said he suspected she was underage due to the way she acted, police said.

Franklin’s preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
