JACKSON TWP — The Jackson Community Foundation hosted its free township Easter Egg hunt on Saturday. The hunt was held at Sippel Reservoir Park and allowed participation from kids aged 1 to 12.

Thanks to sponsors, the hunt also had multiple vendor tents with activities, snacks and beverages for parents and kids alike.

The Munching Moose, one of the sponsors, allowed children to make cookies and treats with cookies and sprinkles. Those uninterested in making their own also had bags of pre-made treats and candy as well.

To wash down the candy and treats, The Roaming Bean coffee truck was also on site to offer warm coffee and other drinks to parents and children. The little ones were greeted and able to sit with the Easter Bunny and a Moose for photos before and after the hunt.

Children were separated into age groups and designated an area of the field to pick up eggs and treats. The hunting lasted less than five minutes as the large turnout of participants scrambled for eggs and other treats littered about in the field. The age group separation was praised by parents and noted as a primary reason why some parents chose the Jackson event over other options for Easter egg hunts.

The Jackson Community Foundation’s advertisement of the hunt was effective in bringing in community members from all over the county. According to one Slippery Rock resident, the website advertising the event was nice looking and easy to operate, prompting her to travel to Zelienople with her child.

While most eggs in the field were filled with individual treats, participants that found blue tickets in their eggs received a large Easter basket as a prize. At the end of the event, guests were able to put their empty eggs in cardboard boxes to be recycled and used again next year.
