A Butler man was sentenced to prison Thursday in Butler County Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty to assaulting a Butler police officer in August.

Valerian A. Dec, 50, was sentenced to serve 15-30 months in prison followed by 48 months of probation and fined $25 after pleading guilty to a felony charge of aggravated assault filed by city police following an Aug. 21 incident in which he head-butted an officer. Judge Maura Palumbi also ordered Dec to have no contact with the officer.
