LIHEAP — the federally funded Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program — is still accepting applications.

LIHEAP applications will be accepted through May 8. The program, run by the state, provides one-time grants of $200 to $1,000 that are applied directly to a customer’s gas bill. Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

According to a news release from Peoples Natural Gas, the sooner a customer applies, the better their chances of receiving the full benefit they are eligible for before the program closes for the season.
