Butler city precincts 4-1 and 4-2 consolidate

Voters in the City of Butler’s precincts 4-1 and 4-2 will now share a single voting site after a court decree consolidated the two.

Starting with the upcoming primary election on May 19, residents of either former precinct will now meet at Hill United Presbyterian Church at 501 Second St. The location was already the voting site for precinct 4-2.

The consolidation was initiated by the Butler County Bureau of Elections, which submitted its petition to Butler County court in February. An order of the court dated Thursday, March 19, officially decreed the two precincts consolidated.

The petition refers to the precincts as Butler City Election District Ward 564, Precincts 1 and 2.

“The proposed consolidation of Butler City Election District Ward 564, Precincts 1 and 2, into Butler City Election District Ward 564 would greatly facilitate the voting process and promote the convenience of the electors and the public interest,” the bureau’s petition for consolidation said.

The petition said precinct 4-1 had 797 registered voters and no elected poll workers, while precinct 4-2 had 838 voters and three poll workers. The combined precinct will serve an estimated 1,635 voters.

“The new precinct of Butler City 4 consists of the area east of N. Main St. to E. North St., north of E. North St. to Franklin St., north of E. Locust St. to N. Monroe St., north of E. Brady St. to the city line, west of the city boundary line and south of the city boundary line,” the petition said.
