Butler baseball thumps Baldwin behind Scott’s big hits, Casteel’s pitching: Roundup
Blake Scott tripled and hit a home run, scoring three runs and driving in two as Butler baseball toppled Baldwin 9-2 Tuesday afternoon at Pullman Park.
Nolan Stefaniak doubled twice in the win, and Nash Cuffman singled, tripled and drove in three.
Kyle Casteel started on the mound and worked four scoreless innings for the win. He struck out nine and allowed no walks or hits. Of his 50 pitches, 37 went for strikes.
Pine-Richland 6, Mars 3 — The Rams managed just two hits, but benefited from five walks and three errors by the Planets.
Grady Speigle had a base hit, run scored and one batted in. Timmy Joos singled twice in the loss.
Ambridge 4, North Catholic 0 — The Bridgers’ Joe Leseiko pitched a complete game in this shutout of the Trojans. He fanned 13, walked one and allowed just two hits — singles by Matthew Madonna and Matthew Curtis.
Freeport 9, Mount Pleasant 1 — Owen Westendorf baffled the Vikings, surrendering just one unearned run on one hit in six innings. He struck out eight and walked one.
Ashton Bricker was 3-for-3 with three runs scored for the Yellowjackets.
Meadville 5, Moniteau 3 — Weston Cook doubled twice for the Warriors, who led 1-0 after four innings.
Moniteau pitcher Dawson Cook received a no-decision after striking out eight, walking two and allowing no runs on three hits in four innings.
Marlee Fraser went 3-for-3 at the plate, scored two runs and drove in three to lead Knoch to a 16-0, three-inning win against Valley.
Lindsey Wise and Lizzie Danik both added two hits in the victory.
