Gibson

Rex Gibson, 73, of Butler passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026. He was born in Butler Dec. 19, 1952, and was the son of the late Nicholas and Fay (Mahood) Gibson.

Rex received his associate degree in computer science and worked in computer IT support. He was known for being a good neighbor and having a huge heart, and was always willing to do anything for anybody.

Rex enjoyed trivia club and loved racing, spending every Friday at Lernerville Speedway. He was a member of the Elks and Masonic Lodge in Butler.

Rex was the beloved husband of the late Mary Jean Gibson; father of Gina (Mike) Miller; brother of Margaret (Clair) Cratty; uncle of Jodi (Chuck) Boory, Jamie Cratty, Judy (Andy) Stoops and Janet Murphy; great uncle of Kenneth (Amanda) and Michael (Savannah) Boory, Andrew and Austin (Becca) Stoops; and great-great-uncle of Scarlett and Parker Boory. He is also survived by his dogs, Gracie and Sydney.

GIBSON — Family and friends of Rex Gibson, who died Thursday, March 19, 2026, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. Funeral prayers will immediately follow in the funeral home.

Burial will be held privately.
