Mason Fisher’s walk-off sac-fly caps Seneca Valley baseball’s comeback win; Raiders softball starts 2-0: Roundup

Seneca Valley baseball trailed 3-0 after one inning. Mason Fisher gave the Raiders their only lead of the game on the final pitch.

Fisher hit a walk-off sacrifice-fly in the bottom of the seventh to give SV a 4-3 win over Hempfield Area on Saturday, improving the team to 3-2. Courtesy runner Alexander Homick scored the winning run.

Danny Drennan went 2 for 3 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. Drennan drove in a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 3-2, then scored the tying run on a fielding error two batters later.

After Ryan Rebholz gave up three runs in the first inning but settled in after that, Luis Torrenegra tossed three scoreless innings of relief for the win.

Holy Trinity Catholic 8, Karns City 1 — Tyson Frazer went 2 for 4 and scored a run in the Gremlins’ loss at The Ripken Experience tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C. KC fell to 2-1.

North Catholic 13, Chariters-Houston 0 — Peyton Varley and Landon Eifler pitched a combined, five-inning no-hitter for the Trojans.

Luca Guzowski went 4 for 4 at the plate with two runs and two RBIs. Landon Petok doubled twice and drove in five runs while going 2 for 4 at the dish.

Softball

Seneca Valley 5, Armstrong 3 - Harlee Hornick hit a solo homer, Julia Valasek tripled and drove in a run and Neve Miller went 2 for 3 with a run and RBI in the Raiders’ second win of the season.
