Early Learning Connections purchases North Street building for Head Start program
Recognizing a need in the area, Early Learning Connections has secured a Butler location for its Head Start classes with the purchase of a property at the end of last year.
According to the special warranty deed for 234 E. North St. in Butler, dated Dec. 17, 2025, Early Learning Connections purchased the property from Butler Global Church for $415,630. The purchase consisted of four parcels that included the building and a portion of the parking lot next to it.
Elisa Spadafora, CEO of Early Learning Connections, said the organization began using the building as a tenant back in 2021 for its Head Start classes.
“We wanted to make sure our classes are easily accessible to the families and children who live here in Butler. Some of our students walk to class, so we wanted to make a place that’s as easy to access as possible,” she said.
At first, the organization ran two Head Start classes out of the lower level of the building, but it was looking for more space in the city.
Spadafora said Butler Global Church notified them in early 2025 that it was planning to sell the building. When Early Learning Connections expressed its interest in buying, she said the church worked with the organization to make the building fit its specifications.
Currently, she said Early Learning Connections offers four classes at the building with the possibility to plan for more. However, decisions on the number of classes are based around enrollment and community need.
“We address both home and center-based learning needs,” Spadafora said.
The organization offers a number of child education services such as Pre-K Counts and the Infant Toddler Contracted Slots Program. It is also the grantee agency for Butler, Armstrong and Indiana counties’ Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
