Butler’s Santino Sloboda to wrestle in Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic featuring WPIAL all-stars
Fresh off his second consecutive bronze and fourth career medal at the PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships, Butler’s Santino Sloboda will wrestle again in a high school setting.
The senior 127-pounder was invited to the 52nd Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic, which pits some of the WPIAL’s best wrestlers against an all-star team from Oklahoma.
The match will be held March 28 at Peters Township High School. The WPIAL vs. Oklahoma match is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. There is also a women’s match featuring Pa. and Oklahoma wrestlers, and a Pennsylvania vs. USA match.
Sloboda, who is ranked No. 27 by High School On SI in the nation at 127 pounds, won bronze at last week’s state championships, closing out a career in which he won a Butler County record 176 matches. He has committed to wrestle collegiately at Pitt.
