A cast of 60 children and adults will take the stage for Sing Hosanna!’s production of “The Little Mermaid,” showing at Butler County Community College at the end of March.

This year, Sing Hosanna! marks 47 years of presenting family concerts, productions, dinner theaters and special event projects to various Butler County organizations. The actors consist of children as young as 7 years old all the way up to senior citizens. Past shows have included three generations of families.

The musical is based on a Hans Christian Andersen’s story about a mermaid, Ariel, who wishes to leave her ocean home to live in the world above. She ends up bargaining with an evil sea witch, Ursala, to trade her tail for legs and pursue her human love-interest, Prince Eric. There are four songs in the musical which were not in the 1989 Disney movie, and the characters of Prince Eric and Ursula are developed further in the musical than in the movie, according to an email from Sing Hosanna!

The musical will show at 7:30 p.m. March 27 and at 2 p.m. March 28 at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College, 107 College Drive, Butler Township. Tickets are $18 for reserved seats, and are available online at events.ticketleap.com/tickets/singhosanna.
