Butler Township puts road projects out for bid
BUTLER TWP — The township is looking to complete 19 different asphalt projects on its roads and curbs this summer, along with 13 seal coat projects.
The Butler Township Board of Commissioners approved advertising the projects for bidding at its Monday, March 16, meeting.
The advertised projects include over 58,000 square yards of milling. Almost 24,000 square yards of area will receive seal coat.
Township roads that will receive new asphalt include portions of Wyncrest, Mary Beth, Blue Grass, White Oak, Aspen, Oakridge, Fairlane and Foxcroft drives; Old Eberhart and Thornwood roads; Kohler, Wilkes, Harrison, Dewey and Carl avenues; and Alton and Pacific streets.
Roads receiving seal coat this summer include portions of Weir, Steelton and Willard avenues; Colleen, Mellon and Fortieth streets; Gregden, Beck, Powdermill, Milt Miller and Reiber roads; and Doral and Silver drives.
Tom Knights, township manager, said bid responses are due in April.
Dave Meeder, township director of public works, said the amount of road and individual projects put out to bidding for this summer are similar to previous years.
The resurfacing projects include paving hundreds of feet of each road listed.
It is not yet known how much the work will cost the township.
Other Butler Township projects this summer include a stormwater project to replace pipes between Duffy Road and Home Avenue in the Homeacre neighborhood.
