County recovering from Friday winds throughout the day Saturday
After fallen power lines and trees prevented access to state roads in Butler County Friday night, March 13, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is reporting that all roads are open Saturday afternoon.
On Friday evening, the department said Route 356 between Coal Hollow Road and Route 228 in Buffalo Township would close because of debris on roads. PennDOT said the road would remain closed overnight until the scene could be cleared Saturday.
By 3:30 p.m. Saturday, West Penn Power had restored electricity to many customers who had lost it in the Friday storms. The total number of outages went from 12,433 to 6,828 by 3:30 p.m., with many of the remaining outages affecting residents of Buffalo Township and Butler Township.
