Actions of president distressing
Perhaps Butler County has always been a red county, as mentioned in the Sunday, Feb. 22, letter (“Letters not reflective of county,” Page A4). But change is inevitable and necessary.
My niece married a guy from Germany, and she, her husband and their two children live in Germany. She says she often has been asked, “Don’t they know Trump is following the World War II era playbook?” in alarm.
It didn’t start with concentration camps. It started with:
■ promises to restore Germany’s former glory
■ purging political opponents
■ blaming immigrants
■ targeting the press
■ creating enemies
Sound familiar? The reason there are so many letters to the editor is because many people are distressed by the actions of this president. Many people are fact-checking and cross-referencing actual news from reputable outlets such as NPR, the BBC, The Guardian, etc.
Too many people regurgitate the lies President Donald Trump feeds them, do not bother to double-check his statements and choose to believe what they are told.
