Joan Tomsey
Joan E. (Steighner) Tomsey, 92, of Butler, passed away Friday, March 6, 2026.
She was born in Butler on Feb. 6, 1934, daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Keller) Steighner.
Joan worked at Summit Academy. She loved to play bingo, go to the casino and loved to be with her family. She was known for never being seen without her red lipstick. Joan will be forever missed by all who knew her.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Tomsey Sr., whom she was married to for 70 years until his passing; mother of Joseph (Peggy) Tomsey Jr., Judith Mohan, James (Karen Powers) Tomsey and Janice (Tony) Mercatell; grandmother of Jeremy, Jessica (Ryan), Vanessa (Adam), Joshua, Jacob (Hannah), Tia (Jason), Briar, Taylor (Preston) and Rayna; and great-grandmother of Tucker, Rowan, Remi, Eli, Blair and one on the way. She is also survived by her son's dog, Brody.
Along with her parents and husband, Joan was preceded in death by her siblings; her son-in-law, Joseph Mohan; and granddaughter, Adriana Callender.
TOMSEY — Family and friends of Joan E. (Steighner) Tomsey, who died Friday, March 6, 2026, will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 13, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, Herman.
Burial will be held privately.
