Charles Theiss
Charles Lawrence Theiss, 73, of Butler, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026.
Born Aug. 11, 1952, in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Charles A. Theiss and Dorothy A. Fusan Theiss.
Charles worked at Heppenstall Steel Company in Pittsburgh, where he was a card-carrying union member.
It is an understatement to say that he was a lifelong music lover. He was a self-taught musician who both played and taught the guitar. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, a loving pet parent of everything from turtles to dogs and a fan of all things Western.
He was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
He loved his family and he is deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Anita Pugliese Theiss, whom he married Aug. 6, 1977; one daughter, Miranda Gaither and her husband, Bryan “Tony,” of Butler; two grandchildren, Charlee Bruce, of Pittsburgh, and Isaac Bruce, of Butler; two sisters, Christine Wheeler and her husband, Larry, of Pittsburgh, and Dorie Khawaja and her husband, Adnan, of Naples, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Theiss, of Gibsonia.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Theiss.
THEISS — Friends of Charles Lawrence Theiss, who died Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 2, in MARTIN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, at All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, with the Rev. Phil White, OFM, Cap., officiating.
Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
