Knoch boys, Karns City girls, Slippery Rock girls and North Catholic girls will play host in the first round of the PIAA Basketball Championships.

The PIAA released the state tournament brackets Sunday, and four of Butler County’s six teams to make states are the home team, including the WPIAL Class 4A champion Knights and the four-time defending District 9 champion Gremlins. (The Gremlins will “host” at Moniteau High School at 7 p.m. Friday.)

It will make for a busy opening weekend of the tournament, which begins Friday, March 7, and Saturday, March 8, in the first round. Winners will advance to the second round March 10-11. The state finals will be held at Hershey’s Giant Center March 19-21.
