Butler Township Wingstop signage removed

BUTLER TWP — Those traveling on New Castle Road over the last months may have spotted a sign for a new chain chicken spot, but it has since been removed.

Signs for Wingstop — a popular chicken chain — appeared last year at the location of the former Kings Family Restaurant on New Castle Road in Butler Township. However, as of Tuesday, Feb. 24, the signs that used to adorn two sides of the building are gone.

The building remains closed with no signage for any other businesses visible.

Even with the change, township officials said they have a building permit ready to be issued, but the owners have yet to pick it up. The property was acquired by “OM Butler Realty LLC” in October 2024 for $900,000.

“As far as I know, ownership has every intent of moving forward on the property,” township manager Tom Knights said.

Knights said his understanding is the owners intend to have multiple tenants in the property and are not moving forward until they are certain a full set of tenants have been found.

He said he has not heard of what businesses might come to the location in the future.

The location still has its own page on the Wingstop website, but is not listed among Pennsylvania’s locations.
