Slippery Rock Township to repair carport, bid for truck
SLIPPERY ROCK TWP — With the township’s community building carport damaged and a truck out of commission, supervisors moved to fix these two issues at their meeting Monday, Feb. 23.
The board of supervisors voted unanimously to approve bidding on two possible trucks to replace an “incapacitated” Ford F-550 at a maximum cost of $60,000. Supervisors said that they would be bidding on used trucks off Municibid, an online auction website that allows municipalities to purchase equipment.
“We looked at the possibility of bidding through Municibid to buy a new truck kind of in place of that truck, rather than buy a new one,” Supervisor Paul Dickey said.
Supervisor Jason Allen said he researched purchasing a new truck, but found it would cost between $120,000 and $140,000. Dickey added that the township has sold items through Municibid, but has yet to purchase equipment through it.
In other business, supervisors voted unanimously to approve repairs on the community building’s carport after Dickey said it was hit by a truck. Allen said the cost for repairs would be about $4,000.
“He’s going to fix the gutter on the other side, it hasn’t been working for a while, and fix all the fascia and stuff that was damaged,” Allen said.
The next Slippery Rock Township Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday, March 9.
