Route 8 resurfacing to begin in Butler and Center townships
A resurfacing project along Route 8 in Butler and Center townships is set to begin Monday, March 2.
The $13.6 million project will take place near the intersections of McCalmont Road, Vogel Road and Route 308, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Monday, Feb. 23. Initial work will focus on drainage improvements, with crews operating during daylight hours. Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling through the area.
The project includes patching, drainage upgrades, paving and other miscellaneous construction along the corridor.
At a later date, the eight on- and off-ramps at the Route 8 and Route 422 interchange will be closed individually for nighttime work to allow for repaving. Each ramp closure will include a weekend detour.
PennDOT said specific dates and detour information will be announced in advance at a later date.
The contractor, Lindy Paving, is expected to complete the project in early November.
