Edna Mae Gerner

On Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, Edna Mae Gerner died peacefully at the age of 94. She was the daughter of the late Roy A. and Carrie Witte Gerner; sister of the late Fred Gerner, Henry Gerner, Walter Gerner, Dr. Alvin “Buzz” Gerner and Marilyn J. Fugh. She is survived by her beloved beagle, Mason, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Edna Mae was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and obtained her master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan. She worked for the Allegheny County Health Department as the district health officer and nurse administrator, retiring in 1992. She served as a captain in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard. Edna Mae had a love for beagles, giving numerous dogs a good home over the years.

GERNER — Friends of Edna Mae Gerner, who died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, will be received from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at JOHN A. FREYVOGEL SONS, 4900 Centre Ave. at Devonshire St., Pittsburgh. A graveside committal service will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mt. Chestnut, Pa., officiated by the Rev. John A. Fugh Jr.
