Slippery Rock prepares to bring 2 new police officers aboard

SLIPPERY ROCK — Two new police officers are expected to be patrolling the streets of Slippery the borough within coming months.

Mayor Jondavid Longo announced during a council meeting Tuesday, Feb. 17, two people had accepted offers to join the borough’s police department.

He said one will be joining in a full-time position and one in a part-time position pending results of a psychiatric evaluation and other prehiring processes.

“I’m very excited personally. I mean, these are two veteran officers who are very familiar with our community and the way that we do things. So, I’m confident the transition should be pretty easy for us,” Longo told council.

He said the borough will look to have them on duty as soon as possible. The additions would bring the police department back to maximum staffing. He added he is proud of the work the borough and police department have accomplished together over the years.

The next Slippery Rock Borough Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 3.
