Special Olympics and unified bocce athletes around Butler County recently celebrated various achievements at the end of their seasons.

At Knoch, ninth-grader Mason Kriberney won a pair of gold medals, according to the school district, at the Special Olympics Winter Games at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.

The A-C Valley unified bocce team celebrated the conclusion of its second season as a program and featured 10 athletes.

And Moniteau’s unified bocce team, which made the postseason, celebrated several seniors who will graduate later this year: Kara Ace, Halle Beatty, Jeremiah Donaldson and Allen Watterson.

“This season I have witnessed the athletes beginning to play their own game and build upon their skills,” Amy McKivigan, one of Moniteau’s coaches, said. “The team pride that this group brings into each practice and game is what Unified Spirts is all about.”
