Armstrong in agreement to buy Ohio-based cable company
Armstrong announced it is acquiring a northeast-Ohio-based cable company, expanding its footprint in Ohio and West Virginia.
The Butler-based telecommunications company agreed to a definitive purchase agreement with Massillon Cable TV, a cable and broadband company based about an hour south of Cleveland.
The agreement will “bring together two exceptional family-owned companies,” and unite two providers with a shared mission of “expanding access to fast, reliable connectivity while making sustained investments in local communities,” according to a Tuesday, Feb. 17, news release.
Massillon Cable TV is one of the 25 largest cable and broadband companies in the U.S., offering services like high-speed internet, digital cable TV, residential and commercial phone services and fiber optic connectivity, according to the release.
The acquisition adds to Armstrong’s existing fiber network footprint in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, New York, West Virginia and Kentucky.
The agreement “means more homes and businesses across six states will have access to our premier fiber network,” Jeff Ross, Armstrong’s president, said in the release. “MCTV’s operations in Massillon, Wooster and along the Ohio-West Virginia border complement our existing footprint perfectly. MCTV has made significant investments in fiber-to-the-home technology and is nearing completion of its network transformation, positioning the combined company for continued growth and innovation.”
The proposed purchase of Massillon Cable TV is still subject to regulatory approvals and “customary closing conditions,” according to the release.
A dollar figure for acquisition was not immediately available. The purchase is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026.
