After spending nearly 30 years serving the Butler community, Emigh Jewelry Co. is planning to head south to Cranberry Township.

Emigh Jewelry has been located at 540 Butler Crossing for the past 10 years and, according to owner Robert Emigh, the business has outgrown its current store and is looking for a more spacious home at 2085 Mackenzie Way in Cranberry.

“The place by the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex is going to be bigger in the back, and we will have a loft for storage,” Emigh said. “It is going to service us a lot better than this store. I wish we could stay here. If this place was big enough we would stay.”

Emigh said the business’s current location has enough showroom space, but not enough room in the back where they work on jewelry.

The business does a lot of work in custom jewelry. Emigh’s son, Zach Emigh, has a YouTube channel with more than 399,000 subscribers, where he documents that work.

Robert said the business doesn’t allow customers to mail their jewelry to them, and they don’t ship any out so items don’t get lost in the mail, meaning people have to come to them for custom work.

“We have people that come from New York, New Jersey, Kentucky and Texas,” Robert said. “People drive and fly here, so at the new location, we will be closer to the Pittsburgh International Airport and people can fly in and come up. It will be more convenient for them.”

The business’s current location has about 1,200 square feet, while the new building will have about 1,900 square feet.

Robert said he allocated about $1 million for the move and he expects it to come in a little under that estimate.

The lease for Robert’s Butler location expires on April 31, he said, and the lease for the Cranberry store begins on May 1.

He couldn’t give an exact date as to when the Butler store will close and when the Cranberry one will open, but he does anticipate there to be a few weeks of transition before the new store opens.

“The Butler people are terrific and they are very supportive,” Robert said. “They say they will drive down to Cranberry now and we appreciate that. We are right at that main corridor, so pretty easy to get to.”
