Donald McKean
Donald Lee McKean, 72, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his “honey bun,” daughters, brothers and friends, in Slippery Rock.
Born May 3, 1953, in Grove City, Don lived a life marked by simplicity, warmth and the quiet joys of family and companionship.
Don was a man who found happiness in the everyday moments — whether it was sitting on the porch listening to music, spending time with his beloved dogs and pet skunk, or enjoying Sunday afternoon laying in bed watching his honey bun’s channel, Lifetime. He cherished the company of his wife, daughters, grandchildren, siblings and friends. His love for poker games, fishing trips, camping adventures and browsing flea markets reflected his appreciation for both fun and connection.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol Troxell; two daughters, Erin Janeen Schreiber (Tim Cleveland), of Georgia, and Dawn LaVan, of Grove City; two sisters, Bonnie “Jean” (Mike McNeish), of New Castle, and Nancy (Joe) Robinson, of Bolivar, Pa.; five brothers, Chuck (Sue) Hilliard, of Slippery Rock, Dave, Ken and Herb Jr. (Michele) Hilliard, all of Butler, and Tom (Chris) Hilliard, of Browns Summit, N.C.; grandchildren, Kevin, Wesley, Brooklyn and Landon; and “Tons” of nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Grace McKean and “Herb” Hilliard Sr.; two sisters, Shirley and Sandra Lea; one brother, Rob; and one nephew, David.
A special thanks to his Good Samaritan Hospice team, specifically his angel nurse.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
