Valentine’s Day at Northwest Elementary

Northwest Elementary School in Butler celebrated Valentine’s Day — and Kindness Month — by encouraging kindness and friendship with one another.

Students wrote one compliment on the white board for a fellow student and then read them aloud to each other. They also put out cards with their names on it, and fellow students would write down compliments about what they thought that student was like. Then they used those compliments to create heart posters.

All of the crafts the various classes created will stay up into March for the spring showcase, when parents can see what their children have been working on.

The students in Meghan Serafine’s second-grade class wore matching colors Tuesday, Feb. 10, as part of a Kindness Month activity.

Students offered a range of opinions on what love means to them as they celebrate.

What does love and kindness mean to you?
