PSU extension hosting crop conference
The Penn State Extension is hosting a crop conference that includes reviewing crop production last growing season and planning for next year’s season, showing off new innovations for the upcoming season and highlighting cutting-edge agronomic research, products and technology.
The Northwestern PA Crops Conference’ workshop will be held in Prospect at the The Atrium at Eisler Farms, 1031 New Castle Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24.
Stephen Campbell, the extension’s agronomist, said the conference is designed for field and forage crop producers, pesticide applicators and crop consultants. The workshop will feature specialists and field and forage crops extension educators with region-specific agendas.
The events will cover subjects such as ongoing field and forage crop research at Penn State, crop production insights relevant to the previous growing season, effective pest management strategies for field and forage crops and best practices for pesticide safety.
Several local agricultural companies, including lenders, applicators, seed suppliers and equipment dealers will attend the workshop, showcasing their products and services and providing support while addressing inquiries from participants. Campbell said this presents an excellent opportunity for attendees to engage in conversations about specific crop requirements and explore the latest product offerings.
Seat limit is capped at 75. Forty-two people were registered as of Thursday, Feb. 5.
