Police: Son hits father in head with baseball bat in Clearfield Township

A Butler man is accused of hitting his father in the head with a baseball bat.

Christian Garing, 46, was charged Tuesday, Feb. 10, by state police in Butler with felony aggravated assault following a Monday incident in Clearfield Township.

Police said they were dispatched to the 500 block of Carbon Center Road for a man who was reportedly struck in the head by his son with a baseball bat. Police said the man was bleeding and felt he might lose consciousness.

Police found a laceration on the top of his head that was bleeding profusely. Garing was found in an upstairs bedroom with a black wooden Louisville Slugger, which police said he admitted to using to hit his father.

Garing’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 17 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton. He’s being held in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
