An Ohio man allegedly used tools found in the Butler Walmart to force open a jewelry case and steal more than $5,000 in jewelry from the store, police said.

Tony Matthew Deccola, 32, of Ashtabula, Ohio, was charged Thursday, Feb. 5, by Butler Township police with felony retail theft following a Jan. 23 incident.

Police said they were contacted by a Walmart loss prevention officer who said the theft was committed around 8:30 p.m. Police said Deccola entered the store and selected several tools and backpacks before going to the jewelry department. He used the tools to break open a case and steal 32 items valued at $5,752.16.

Deccola’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
