Paul Duane Erkens, 69, of Butler, left this world for his eternal home on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026. He was surrounded by his family who loved him deeply.

Born July 24, 1956, in Butler, he was a son of the late John H. Erkens and Theresa Jurysta Erkens and a man after God’s heart.

Paul worked as an electronics technician at American Glass Research. He previously was employed by PepsiCo Inc. and Family Bowlaway.

A jack-of-all-trades, Paul proudly built his family’s home in Center Township. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing softball and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dena Myers Erkens, whom he married Jan. 14, 1977; two daughters, Bobbi Lalley and her husband, Jay, and Kristi Erkens; three grandchildren, Owen, Kate and Phoebe Lalley; three brothers, John Erkens and his wife, Terri, David Erkens and his wife, Beverly, and George Erkens and his wife, Melissa; two sisters, Mary Ivory and her husband, Robert, and Sarah Smith and her husband, Randy; and a number of nieces and nephews.

ERKENS — Friends of Paul Duane Erkens, who died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME SOUTH SIDE, 429 Center Ave., Butler.

Services will immediately follow at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Pastoria officiating.

Burial will be private.
