Evelyn Csizmadia, 88, of Center Township, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, after a seven-month illness following a stroke. Born Jan. 19, 1938, in Butler, she was the daughter of the late Leslie C. Forcht and Ann (Lasichak) Forcht.

Following graduation from Butler High School in 1955, she worked at Troutman Department Store for five years as dress buyer. In 1961, she married Dezso “Dez” Csizmadia who came to the United States after the 1956 Hungarian revolution. Together they were happily married for sixty-four years and raised two wonderful children.

Evelyn was a member of St. Andrew Orthodox Church and formerly, St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Evelyn enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, playing bingo at Armco Park, watching old musical and Western movies, cooking shows. going on family vacations, and volunteering her time at church pierogi fundraisers. She was a hard-working, self-starting person who always tried to do her best. She lived a simple life and did not require much for herself, was content staying home and fully devoted taking care of her family. She prayed every day for her family and friends.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Robert (Lois) Csizmadia of Dover, Del. and David Csizmadia of Butler; two granddaughters, Belinda (Richard) Bossart of Chicora, and Kendell Csizmadia of Pittsburgh; one sister, Mary Ann (John) Marten of Butler; one nephew, John L. Marten of East Butler; and one niece, Cathy Self of Butler, as well as a number of cousins.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by cousins, Dorothy Stanley, Bertha Povlick, John Lasichak, and Ron Lasichak, and numerous aunts and uncles.

The family wishes to thank Newhaven Court at Clearview and the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) hospice staff for their support, dedication and loving care provided to her during her final months of life.

CSIZMADIA — All services for Evelyn Csizmadia, who died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, will be held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
