America’s 250th birthday not a happy one

This is America’s 250th birthday celebration year.

Renee Good had just dropped off her child at school. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was at that location. She had a reason to be where she was; maybe ICE was out of line being there. They shot her in the face — three times. I feel for her kids.

Trump is threatening war with Venezuela, and was threatening Greenland, Cuba and Minnesota. He is threatening to send federal troops into Minnesota to stop protesters. Trump ran his presidential campaign on not going to war, and yet here we are at the brink of two possible wars — either of which could lead to World War III.

Trump and his loyal Republicans are destroying health care. Many Americans are paying more than double, sometimes triple, for less coverage than they received previously. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is making it difficult for parents to recognize what is an important and legit immunization shot for infants.

Congress ordered the release of the Epstein files, and yet the documents that have been released contain redacted sections; still others have not been released at all. No one cares whose name is in those files; just publish them and get it over with. If you have read the book “Nobody’s Child,” then you know why this is important. Maybe you did not read that book but experienced the abuse those girls did, then you know why it is important. Expose them now!

What a way to celebrate our 250th birthday!

Suzan Draper,

Butler
