Jennings Environmental Education Center rented snowshoes to visitors 62 times over the week following late January’s snowstorm.

This winter is the first in years that there has been enough snow accumulation to allow for snowshoeing at the state park, a Jan. 28 Facebook post said.

The park trails are open for snowshoeing when enough snow has fallen.

The park also loans snowshoes Monday through Saturday when there is adequate snow cover.

People who rent snowshoes from the park will receive a brief tutorial and snowshoe fitting. The park recommends people dress for the weather, including wearing winter boots. The park also recommends people bring plenty of water to rehydrate.

A park staff member said that as of Monday, Feb. 2, the snow was still high enough to snowshoe at the park.
