Donald Callen Jr.
Donald Rickard Callen Jr., 96, of Butler, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, as the result of an auto accident.
Born Feb. 19, 1929, in Penn Township, he was the son of Donald R. Callen Sr. and Ethel Rumbaugh Callen.
Don was a graduate of Penn Township High School. He graduated from Penn State College with a B.S. degree in Forestry and joined the Osmose Wood Preserving Co. as a field manager. He worked in the construction field as a heavy equipment operator. He managed the Butler office for Dumbaugh Building Company for 20 years and retired from MasterTech Security System in Butler.
He served on the Penn Township Planning Commission and as a Penn Township supervisor for six years. Don was a member of the Old Union Presbyterian Church and the Civil Air Patrol.
He was founder of Penn’s Men, a local men’s group dedicated to quietly supporting neighbors in need through acts of service, friendship and community involvement. The group provides a helping hand to residents who may need extra support, reflecting the spirit of compassion and generosity that meant so much to Don.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy (Patrick) Callen, whom he married May 3, 1952; and one daughter, Janine (John Yount) Callen, of Butler.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rickard Callen; and one sister, Shirley Young.
CALLEN — A memorial service for Donald Rickard Callen Jr., who died Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Old Union Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Peter DeVries officiating.
