A 96-year-old Butler man died Friday, Jan. 30, in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Airport and Pittsburgh roads in Penn Township.

Donald Callen Jr. was killed in the crash, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.

The crash between a truck and a minivan occurred around 12:50 p.m., according to Butler County Emergency Services dispatch reports.

Another person was reportedly taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.

A medical helicopter was initially called to the scene, but dismissed 10 minutes later.

Callen graduated from Penn Township High School and served as a Penn Township supervisor for six years, according to his obituary. He also served on the Penn Township Planning Commission.

He managed the Butler office for Dumbaugh Building Company for 20 years and retired from MasterTech Security System in Butler.

Callen founded Penn’s Men, a local men’s group dedicated to quietly supporting neighbors in need through acts of service, friendship and community involvement.
