2 injured in wrong way crash on I-79 in Cranberry Township

A Zelienople woman driving the wrong way on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township showed signs of impairment and was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in mid-January, according to police.

Michele L. Dannenmueller, 41, struck the the vehicle of an Oakdale man while driving south in the northbound lanes of I-79 in Cranberry Township around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, a Monday, Feb. 2 news release from state police said.

The news release indicated Dannenmueller would be charged with DUI/Unsafe Driving.

Police said both drivers experienced minor injuries, but only Dannenmueller was taken to UPMC Passavant for treatment by Cranberry Township EMS.

The crash occurred near mile marker 78.8, police said.

Dannenmueller was driving a 2021 Jeep Wrangler and struck a 2012 Volkswagen driven by Ahmed S. El Daour, 23, of Oakdale, according to police.
