Chicora man charged with intimidating witness

A Chicora man is accused of intimidating a witness following an alleged assault in Connoquenessing Township, police said.

State police charged Nathan Andrew Cornell, 36, Thursday, Jan. 29, with felony intimidating witnesses and one misdemeanor count each of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment following a Wednesday incident.

Police said they responded to a residence in the 100 block of Rolling Valley Lane and spoke with a woman who they said Cornell had assaulted. Police said Cornell pushed the woman with both hands, which caused her to hit her head, slammed her into a wall and punched her in the face.

Police said Cornell fled the scene when the woman said she was calling the police.

The woman showed police multiple text messages where he threatened to come to her residence “strapped” and threatened to send someone to kill her.

Cornell’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 4 before District Judge Amy Marcinkiewicz. He’s being held in Butler County Prison on $75,000 bail.
