As the National Weather Service Pittsburgh continues to predict that Western Pennsylvania will be hit with a snow storm Sunday, Jan. 25, one Butler County borough expressed concern Saturday about its lack of salt.

The borough of Chicora said Saturday in a Facebook post that is did not receive its regular delivery of salt, so it will be applying a “minimal amount” of salt to borough roads during the predicted storm.

The borough will still regularly plow the roads and apply the normal amount of anti-skid to the roads through the storm, the post said.

Like many counties throughout the state, and the nation, the National Weather Service placed Butler County under a winter storm warning, effective until noon Monday, Jan. 26.

Travel could be “very difficult to impossible,” and the hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute, the National Weather Service said.

People should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.
