Vera Jones
Vera Eulalie Stephens Jones, formerly of East Lake Road, Jamestown, Pa., died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at the age of 100.
She was a graduate of the former Pymatuning Joint High School, with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Education degree from the University of Massachusetts, and her elementary principal’s certificate from Westminster College. Vera dedicated her life to her family while following her passion for education as a schoolteacher and later an elementary principal at Butler’s Lyndora School, Northwest School and Emily Brittain School, until she retired in 1990.
An active member of Westford United Methodist Church and a Worthy Matron and District Deputy Grand Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star, Vera earned such accolades as being named “Woman of the Year” by the Pymatuning Council of Republican Women and being listed in “Who’s Who in Education.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford V. Jones; son, C. Barton Jones, Esq.; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Jones; son-in-law, Robert W Saben Jr.; brothers, Arthur G. Stephens and Floyd B. Stephens; and parents, Solomon Roy Stevens and Carrie Blanche Lanham Stephens.
Vera is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lee Jones Saben; and two sons, Douglas Roy Jones and his wife, Mary Kathryn, and Gregory C. Jones, M.D., and his wife, Mary Lynn Stockdale. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Geoffrey Deemer and wife, Christina Deemer, Dr. Elizabeth O’Keeffe and husband, retired Lt. Col Shan P. O’Keeffe, Matthew Jones and wife, Erin Jones, Kathryn Robinson and husband, Joseph Robinson, Christopher Jones, Bethany Jones and Warren Jones.
JONES — A celebration of life service for Vera Eulalie Stephens Jones, who died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, will be held at Westford United Methodist Church at a date and time to be determined.
Burial will be in Rocky Glen Cemetery, Adamsville.
