Members of a Butler County 4-H Club took home the bronze medal from a competition at the Pennsylvania Farm Show on Jan. 14.

The Fabulous Fiber 4-H Club placed third in the fleece to shawl contest and even auctioned the shawl they created for $800, which was donated back to the club by the buyer. The club managed to double that amount when the Butler Farm Show board of directors then bought the shawl for another $800.

The club got its start in 2021, but began competing last year when six members traveled to the state farm show and ultimately placed second. Each group competing in the competition must turn fleece into a shawl that fulfills a minimum length and width requirement within a three-hour time frame.
