Police: Man fires gun into occupied residence early Tuesday morning in Butler
Police charged a Duncansville man with firing four to five rounds into an East Wayne Street apartment in the early hours of Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Kaleb Gene Beish, 22, was charged by Butler city police with four felony counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, one count of felony aggravated assault and four misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment.
No injuries were reported.
Police said they were dispatched around 1 a.m. to the residence for reports of shots fired into an apartment. According to police, Beish and another man visited the residence in a black two-door Dodge Challenger.
Beish allegedly exited the passenger side of the vehicle while it was still moving and was met by a man exiting the residence. The man told police Beish accused him of beating up a juvenile and drew a handgun from his waistband.
Police said the man then ran back inside the residence to a back bedroom. Seconds after reaching the bedroom, he said he heard the shots ring out.
The man told police that from the bathroom window he then saw the Dodge leave the area heading south on South McKean Street. City cameras captured the vehicle leaving, police said.
Police found broken glass near the entry and multiple bullet holes in the glass window of the door. Three .380 shell casings were found in the street in front of the residence and a slug was found in the back bedroom where the man hid.
Beish’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday before District Judge William Fullerton.
