Butler woman accuses former caregiver of stealing
A Butler woman accused her former caregiver of stealing a credit card while in her home.
Lisa K. Thomas, 60, of Butler, was charged Jan. 5 by Butler City police with misdemeanor access device fraud following a Sept. 14 incident.
Police said they were contacted by an East Cunningham Street resident who accused Thomas of stealing a Citi Double Cash card.
The caller told police Thomas was her caregiver from September 2024 to September 2025, and Thomas had been the only other person in her residence recently.
Police later received a list of banking transactions that included a $50 withdrawal on Aug. 31. Due to the holiday weekend, the transaction did not process until Sept. 2, police said.
Police later obtained video footage from a PNC branch that showed Thomas using the card.
Thomas’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 23 before District Judge William Fullerton.
