Austen Wroblewski leads Mars basketball over Blackhawk; Slippery Rock falls short in OT: Roundup

Mars boys basketball scored over 20 points in three of four quarters in an 82-43 drubbing of visiting Blackhawk on Friday.

Austen Wroblewski scored 19 points for the Planets (7-8, 4-3 WPIAL Section 4-5A).

Sam Miller added 13 points in the win, Ben Detisch 13 and Kellan Garvin 11 as Mars snapped a six-game losing streak.

Mercer 48, Slippery Rock 47 (OT) — The Mustangs scored just one basket in the extra period, but Jayden Amos’ 3-pointer was enough to down the Rockets.

Luke Caldwell paced Slippery Rock with 15 points, including four treys, and Casey Darr added 14.

Knoch 60, Valley 20 — Teegan Finucan tallied 16 points for the Knights (13-2, 7-0), who won their 12th straight game.

Roman DeFelice and Derek Lang both added 12 points in the victory.

Seneca Valley 38, Fox Chapel 36 — The Raiders (9-6, 4-4) won this defensive struggle. SV’s Ryan Priester paced all scorers with 13 points.

The victory avenged for the Raiders a 50-26 loss to the Foxes last month.

Deer Lakes 61, Freeport 45 — The Lancers dashed any hopes of a Freeport comeback by dropping 26 points in the fourth quarter.

Gavin Tola netted 10 points for the Yellowjackets (5-8, 3-4).

Moniteau 72, Redbank Valley 63 — The Warriors (8-4) won their fifth straight game. No other details were available.

Karns City 39, A-C Valley 33 — No other details were provided from the Gremlins’ victory.

Girls basketball

Sayge Brunst scored 12 points to lead Moniteau in a 64-41 loss to visiting Marion Center.

Emily Matz added eight points for the Warriors (4-9).
